Our growing, 63-year-old company seeks an Accounts Payable/Payroll Associate. The ideal candidate will have 1+ years of payroll processing and accounts payable experience. In addition, the ideal candidate will have some formal accounting training and good interpersonal skills. The position is full-time and onsite. This is a position with growth potential to take on various accounting, financial and/or human resources responsibilities over time depending on the candidate’s abilities and interests. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, responsibilities include:
Accounts Payable
- Ensure invoices, purchase orders, and packing slips are properly matched prior to entry into the accounting system.
- Enter invoices into the accounting system, ensuring proper account and job coding.
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
- Ensure that invoices are paid in a timely and accurate manner while adhering to departmental procedures.
- Prepare and perform weekly check runs.
- Maintain vendor information in accounting system and update as necessary.
Payroll Processing
- Administer weekly payroll process and manage integrity of payroll data.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local compensation laws and regulations.
- Manage relationships and performance of third-party vendors and payroll processor.
- Oversee the participation in salary surveys and monitor salary survey data.
- Prepare and present compensation data to owners for annual compensation reviews.
- Perform other finance, accounting or human resource duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 1+ years in accounts payable and payroll processing experience
- Related experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Excellent written, oral communication and people skills.
- Must have the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to keep documents well organized.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- A high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office programs, especially excel.
